Ricky Ponting is Worried For Smith’s Workload Yet Trusts His Ability

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian captain and skipper, appreciates the good work of Steve Smith. However, he is wary of the workload that might overwhelm Smith with the captaincy in the IPL season. He is also concerned for the 27-year-old captaining the national team in all 3 formats.

Smith was chosen as a captain by Pune franchise after M.S. Dhoni, the former Indian captain, was unimaginably removed from the position.

Ponting is worried about Smith leading Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL this year. He is worried because the RPS captain and opener David Warner are playing from October 2016 without any break. And, they have to continue playing until June 2017 for ICC Champions Trophy.

Ponting — who previously played for KKR and MI — feels Smith will do great due to his thinking ahead capability for the game.
